Weight Control
There’s a new hope for
America’s obese population: weight control through hypnosis. This therapy does not order obese men and women to get off food. Instead, it
reduces their craving for food.
This approach has already won many followers. Several Americans now find it easier to resist their eating binges by controlling
their mind processes. This way they don’t suffer from imagined feelings of deprivation. There is a less desire to wolf down food or to
return to junk food once the therapy is over.
However, you still need to exercise. Hypnosis can help you resist the urge to eat but it cannot reduce the extra ounces of fat
that you have on your body or which you can acquire if you do not exercise.
It is especially useful when combined with psychotherapy. You then don’t have to worry about printed diet sheets, diet pills,
injections or behavior modification programs. All that you have to do is to allow your subconscious mind to be influenced by suggestions of
what you should eat and what you should not eat.
This trains your mind to look upon food differently. Its biggest advantage is that it stops you from eating when you are not
hungry. This, in itself, is a great achievement. Most people put on weight because they reach for food out of boredom, depression, anxiety,
stress, reward or companionship – and not because they are hungry.
Hypnosis also improves your self-belief and self-confidence. These create the right frame of mind when it comes to food selection
and food needs. However, you need to be patient. You can’t expect hypnosis to change your waistlines overnight. You should be mentally
prepared to spend weeks, if not months or years, to benefit from the therapy. Much depends on how hard you work in controlling your
weight.
